Just wanted to know what everyone's local race track is like and what your ideal track could be?
Mine goes without saying...Dirt track!!! Nothing like powersliding round the turns and feeding the throttle in, rather than just jamming it in as you just gone past the apex (something you do on carpet) Secong choice would be clay or (blue groove if you will).
As offroad taken bit of a bashing at the UK tracks i think anyone who is hard core would'nt mind grass tracks just as long its offroad.

My local track is one on carpet, we use mini pin yellow it has lots of bumps ( a 4 bump, hard to take, just before a corner), 1 'big' (b)(j)ump, nosediving jump..., and some other, not super high jumps. OOh and it's The favourite track of Jukka Steenari www.mbv.be The Belgian GP is driven at our track, I wont be there (big rock festival that weekend, going there with girlfriend ) But it's a cooooool weekend, so show your pred there !!!

my local track is Southport Radio Car Club, the oldest club in the UK I undwerstand....but anyway... The track is now predominantly astroturf, with the longest, fastest straight of any permanent 1/10th scale off-road track in the UK. There is a tarmac banked corner, cobble stone sections, concrete sections and grass. There is an infinate number of variations of track layout, and I dont think we have run the same layout yet this year. The track is often run "in reverse" ie we go round anti-clockwise as opposed to clockwise, and this makes for yet another challenge. There are some pictures on the clubs website:- www.srcc.co.uk. If Carlsberg made race tracks, they would have made Southports!

Chris hows about posting some good pics of your local racing track here? 6-8 should do.... That way people can get a better view of the track and view it at your site?..Also the Tamiyaclub thread about your vintage meeting could do some revival just by putting the link pointing this way?

Has any of you local boys raced at the 3A Racetrack?. Im thinking of going back to racing in a months time or so, being london base i think is a big disadvantage as most of the locals tracks have all but died .... Thankfully 3A is in Kent which isnt too far

3A race way is in west sussex, come off the m23 at pease pottage head towards three bridges/pound hill.
Can recommend a couple of clubs in the london area, for practice DMS race buggys on thursday evenings on carpet indoors in Watford, thats were i run, RC18, PRO4, B4 and the Yokomo mr4 bc and now an elderly pred, Stotfold is also not far away and is one of the best astro tracks in the south and the double jump is a real pred breaker!! Also there is also a small fortnightly club meeting on sundays at lees wood - north london track is astro quite small and very few members, we only run for a laugh although we do have timing gear - 10 years old and run on batterys and yes it is manual!!

AHhh Yes, your quite right i just checked it for meself. With the dms thing im passing comment on that one, for some reason or another i just dont like the guy running it Stotfold ill agree with you as ive raced there a few times, its just a little bit too far for a bit of racing on a sunday. As for the north london ive not actually heard of that one, hehe long time since i seen the manual timing but as least they got one Have you or anyone actually raced at the 3A? just want to know how any of you guys find their racing track, i know its big but im sure its fun and challenging to race on?

The lees wood track is small but a great place to practice 13 laps with a 2wd in 5 mins is a fast time. 3A raceway track, not driven on it myself however a few people i know have, tyre choice is tricky as it is more like a US track than your average uk track but it is mainly a nitro club, also down near the coast is an indoor track that meets in a horse show jumping arena a mate told me about it don't know where they meet though, sorry.

Well guys, guilty of not visiting the board enough once again....but hey, I'm here now! Right then, the Southport Radio Car Club Track..here is what it looks like (without the 90° curve in the straight! It's a very, very good track, but it could do with a little renovation, which I think we have planned for the close season. Some areas of the track have big divots in them that just throw your car over, sometimes quite nastily, and it can be a little frustrating to say the least. As for the anniversary race, it is still going ahead but under what guise I know not. I have done a lot of groundwork and promotion, but it's all been ignored and someone else has started afresh......
