I've been restoring a couple of old TC's, but one I've been doing something a little special with Taken from a post I made on RCRaceChat: If you want to run an X10 transmission in a T1/Streetwise/DTM;
You need 2 complete X10 Diffs and a pair of crown gears.
You can either modify the standard prop to take the X10 pinions, or you can shorten an X10 prop, though shorten it from the front end - not the back! If you use an X10 prop, all the X10 related parts are required, such as the slipper assembly/front one way ect.
You have to use X10 front and rear gearbox tops to enable clearance of the diffs too (or hack the old ones about!).
X10 Hub carriers front and rear can be made to fit (you will need a washer between the wheel and the hex to enable these to fit at the front), as can the X10 shocks, though sticking with the originals would be better as they have a slightly shorter body to enable the car to totally "bottom out". X10 shocks will stop the car from "bottoming out" by about 2mm. (though I'd say these are better than the red plastic streetwise ones)
X10 roll bars fit (you might want to trim them though!), the carbon fibre front rocker plates from the ETQ and XK98 (GP Rockers) fit on the standard streetwise rockers (as they will the XRS rockers), in fact the X10 rockers will fit, you can also use the new steering gubbins.
New touring car upper rear wishbones can also be easily produced from X10 upper rears.
All sheet CF parts for the TC's are really hard to get hold of, though I bought a sheet of 3mm CF from a popular aution site for a tenner and made 2 of all parts in a day or so - if I can do it, anyone can!
The little plastic Bud clips from the X10 driveshafts fit the TC shafts too, as does the X10 motor mount. All bearings fit.
One thing I spent a long while doing was binning the self tapping screws from the saloons and filling them with epoxy, then retaped with m3's
All the little pivot balls and ball ends are transferable too.
I've built one hybrid X10 Saloon now and its attracted a lot of interest at the track, I think its a very competative chassis, its a testament to the design that it can still cut the mustard even though its so old, thats probably why the pred has evolved rather than being redesigned every year - it was awesome to start with! I'm hoping when TTech put there new saloon on the track it'l look like mine, I'll have a source of spares then!!
Speaking of spares; I've been hand making wishbones (though I've not had to use them!), but I can't hand make driveshafts, if anyone has any ideas regarding this I'd be glad to hear from you!!
P.S. If you don't at least have at least the TC tub chassis - dont attempt to make a saloon, your buggy chassis is an inch too long! Though you can hand make or customise X10 parts for every other component with relative ease (excluding drive shafts). Just to add to this, I believe I downloaded every review of the old TC's available, and I spent a long while planning this, do not rush into it. Another note, if you have a saddle pack TC Chassis you will find it vey hard to physically fit moddern cells in the car without serious modification. just think, you X10 isn't really "roomy" is it? TC Chassis are an Inch shorter! I'll put a few pics up if people want them.

Thanks Tom I really enjoyed reading that. That's what I was thinking of doing to my TC when the X10 came out, never got around to doing it though. Anyway, good job, let's see some pics then.

Right - my girlfriend seems to have taken my digital camera with her - so all I've got are a few files on me phone and a couple on a memory stick - so here goes, most of these are the car about a week ago; Heres the X10 Diff and pinion sat in a TC chassis (just to prove they fit!) Though note the use of a streetwise prop here, not a modified X10 one - theres lots of slop between the prop and the crown so modifications have to be carried out on the original prop, or as I mentioned, an X10 prop. Here we see the partially completed front end (phone cam - sorry!) This is complete with a CF front shock tower, X10 Gearbox top, X10 Shocks and GP Rockers. this shot also shows the use of the X10 hub carriers. Heres another shot of the front end, a better view of the above really!! Thats about it really - until the return of my digital camera at least! Though I have got a shot of the TTech spares I got from DMS racing a few days ago; Many of these parts are years old - I dont know how they held onto them considering the shortage we all went through!!! Left to do, Just titanium turnbuckles all round, my home made rear shock parts are currently being lightenend so I havent got anypics of those. The donor for this car was a Streetwise ford pickup. Though DMS provided me with a T1 saddlepack chassis The rear shock parts are also being modified to take the later shock design where the shocks are no longer inboard, if RW deemed it a worthwhile change in the design I think its definately worth doing Cheers

how do you let the driveshafts fit into the the X10 outdrives? steel vs alu is not OK... you need those plastic caps

They certainly did Coop, the T1 used graphite diff halves.

Upper front wishbones are the spares needed if involved in any kind of major shunt, the threaded hole where the ball joint screws in and the compact design means they can be weak in the middle. Don't forget slipper clutches are illegal on touring cars Maybe I should make Frankie's old T1 into a new T1 X10 ? What are the latest cells that DO fit ? 3300's ? or 3000s ? I'm looking around for a Tourer at the moment, fed up with the TC4 and gone back to TC3 ! Almost everyone runs Xray T2's at the moment at our club..... but I don't have any saddle pack cells

I have yet to find any 6 Cell packs that fit at all without dremmeling out the chassis. If running all down one side design:
2400's in the |||||| configuration definately don't fit - Im going to try them the === way later this week
Slippers are Illegal?
Hmmm - Bugger!

correct me if I'm wrong but as far as I know if racing to BRCA rules, slippers are def. illegal unless theres been a change to the rules.
The last T1 was released in 1999 I think which prob was around the 2000 / 2400 mAh time
