I had a long and interesting telephone conversation with Richard Weatherley yesterday....I must say his enthusiasm for this car, and depth of knowledge is incredible. Anyway, the X10 is not so much a new car, but an evolution of the P8. EVERY part has been looked at, and where necessary, it has been improved either by re-design or tolerance changes. The most noticeable changes are around the front top gearbox area, making a change of gearbox top take five minutes instead of 45! There is a whole host of improvements to the drivetrain, with a view to lower the rotating mass and lighten the components in the process. There is a lot more happening to this car than we have ever thought of, so no wonder the release date is delayed, but hey, good things come to those who wait! As for pictures, they should be out around May 21/22 in time for the Southport National, where there is an outside chance that the new X10 will make it's debut...

I just had an email from him I asked If the new gears fit the old predator.... here it is...
Hi Jeroen You can use the X10 transmission in an older Predator, although you would also have to change other components that mate with the new gears :- 2x Complete diffs (diff halves/thrust plates/diff balls/crown wheel) 1x Prop shaft coupling/ one way unit, front 1x Slipper clutch rear coupling. 2x 6*12*4 flanged bearings 2x Steel pinion This is because the drive flats on the propshaft are wider (3mm instead of 2mm), and the boss of the pinion gear is now 6mm dia not 8mm like previous cars.
it would cost you 137£ or 150£ if ya also buy a shaft (which you probably will)
I replied and will keep you informed
A very very very poor and dissapointed Cooper....

I had a brief chat with Richard Weatherley at Southport yesterday - he came up for a brief visit to the National.
I also saw some very interesting pictures and some of the new parts were in my grubby hands......
looking through the technical drawings, it is easy to see the level of change that the car has undergone, and many of the changes will go un-noticed whilst building the car, as they are evolutions of the parts that are currently available. The release date appears to be nearer the middle of June, with the X10 making it's debut (hopefully) at the Bury national...obvioulsy all of this is subject to change and delay as the manufacturing process gets into full swing, but there is light at the end of the tunnel.
