Have just been stripping my old pred and have made an interesting discovery!! pro4 diffs are a direct fit to the rear gear box, and with a small trim on the front lower housing fit the front also, i will be working out how to fit the shaft gears next but if anyone has suggestions advice please let me know. as the pro 4 small bevel gears have no rear moulding i clearly need to make an adaptor looks simple but these days i have notgot access to a lathe....

not knowing anything about the pro4 diff, will the tamiya pinion as described in coopers articl not fit onto the shaft and mesh correctly with the Pro4 stuff?

Hi Wayne, you can try Dave G to see if he can help you since he's well handy with custom aluminium bits.

I would try the version 1.1 gears for the Pro4 because the stock ones are weak, they break easy ! keep us updated and I'm always here for help, but I don't have pro4 gear here, I was planning to test them but the EVOIII gears were a succes so I stopped the Pro 4 project (money money money....)

you also have to look at the width, because if the balls are bigger you need to file out parts like I needed for the tamiya gears (I love dremel)
the gear mesh can and will be to big if you have bad luck. I also first thought it would be direct fit but with better looking I had to do some mods.

As i said they fit the width exactly, version 1 or v1.1 gears only make a differance when running a front solid axle or one way only broken one diff gear in a year and that was with the spool, what i am yet to figure out is how to mount the smaller bevel gear when i said they fit by the way i meant the whole diff including outdrives not using any of the pred origanoly diff parts
