I have spoken to Richard at some length about the carbon link, and he said that it was "possibly his oversight" that he didn' t put more material around the holes on the carbon link.
I think the fact that yours hasn't fallen out Graham is either down to luck, or you haven't raced it outdoors yet!
Saying that, you have been driving a pred longer than most on here, so maybe you naturally take the wider line!
As for them knowing now Yoke, I'd be very surprised if the manufacturers looked on here!

It popped out once when I slapped the wall sideways flatout on the straight, but that also broke the rear upright.
I guess the rear reason it hasn't broken is because I have a spare stronger fibreglass one in my box that I have made. That's the secret, no it will never break! ;D

I have raced the X10 at kidderminster a few weeks back, and i to had no problems with the carbon steering link. I also saw Richard there with Paul Robbinson and he was running a steel steering link, which i was lead to belive will be the updated part, coming soon on the website along with new shock seals and a another small mod to the pinion gear

Has anyone run a steel link yet? Any opinions? I just broke my carbon link by clipping a pipe, and Richard should be sending us the new unit ASAP.

Has anyone run a steel link yet? Realistically, your best bet would be to make a replacement. With the shipping delay you won't get the part in time. Someone (Chris B. maybe?) made a replacement link using (I think) a turnbuckle, some ball ends and a bit-o-dremel. I can't for the life of me find the post (with pics) though. Personally I think this would be the best solution ... it would just take a bit of work. 'nuff said, MX4 EDIT -- There is another option ... I've got a kit that is NIB yet and I live in the US. Drop me a message (on radiocontrolzone) if you want to talk about that option.

I've finally broken my original link (someone hit me) so I'll be making a steel one this week.

I have made an alloy version plus a spare. Tony Bishop used my spare one yesterday as his steering kept popping out at Tivvy (carbon was flexing). Not a problem since. Alloy will be a lot better than the carbon version even if they improve it.

How thick did you make it? I've got some 0.9mm stainless steel sheet! ;D

I think it was 1.5mm alloy plate. Might have some 1.2 mm stainless kicking about somewhere.
