I just ordered one from dtcrc.com and am so anxious to get it. It will be my first kit ever and i plan on building it with my dad.
I was wondering if someone can recommend building supplys i will need (what thread lock and diff lube and all of that)
I am also wondering what motor should i run to get fairly good speeds, what servo (i want top of the line) and what batteries!
Thanks in advance from a soon to be predator owner

Hey Toby, Welcome aboard! I have dealt with the DTCRC guys a bit and they are awesome. If you need anything, let me know. I suggest the S136/S137 spring sets right away, the stock ones are way to soft. Anyhow, search the board for useful info!

Hi Toby,
Congrats on your purchase! I have just finished my build and you might want to read through that thread for some answers. I used Associated Clear Grease and Black grease when building the diffs. Extra items are needed were: 5 min. epoxy, thin super glue, blue loctite, dremel for stainless steel steering linkage, 3mm drill bit, 400 & 600 grit sandpaper, and some patience. Make sure to look through the manual before you start. It might be helpful to go through the parts bags to make sure you have all the required parts. Oh yeah, a circlip pliers for building the shocks. I think those are what they are called. And they need to be pretty small diameter ones too. I ended up filing my pliers and that was really a pain.
Good luck. Somebody here ( I forgot who, sorry) gave me the best piece of advice and that was: Take your time and HAVE FUN.

Hi Toby
If there is anything I can help you with at all, please ask. I like to tackle each step as a little project on its own. I also like to be completely happy with each step before I move on. I know it is human to want to rush and just get your car built so you can run it, but I cant emphasis enough how nicely it progresses if each section has been made with the right screws etc. The Predator when built properly is very satisfying and you wont be disappointed with its speed and handling thats for sure.
You will need Silicon Diff Grease - for diff balls and gears. Black Grease/"Thrust Race Grease - for thrust race diff and drive shaft ends. Epoxy Glue (2 part/fast 5 minute) - for prop shaft. Superglue - rear rockers, long studs that mount the fixed end of the front dampers and rocker crank pivots. Tools as listed in the manual. e.e 1.5m hex driver, 2.0 hex driver, 2.5 hex driver and 3.0 hex driver. A Scapel for de-burring and removing sharp edges (just to make it look nice). Circlip pliers. If you do not have circlip pliers, you can use standard small pliers and a piece of wire (0.8mm) (like a paper clip). Place one end of the wire into the groove and then insert the end of your wire (paper clip) into the hole at the other end of the clip. Using the small pliers push the wire and hence the end of the clip into the groove. I hope this makes sence.
But my most important advice is UNDERSTAND EACH STEP THOROUGHLY BEFORE THE NEXT STEP. BUILD IT PATIENTLY AND TAKE CARE. It is so easy to get frustrated and you could end up damaging yourself as well as your car, especially with a tool like a scaple. But I cant agree with papawheelie enough when he says, Take your time and HAVE FUN!!!!
Dont get stuck, help is always too hand, Regards GAV

Yes Toby grease = lube. Associated stealth & black grease/lube will do. Read Gavgrafix post above he explained it very well. As for what shock oil, well that depends on the track you race on, have a look at the setup sheet you got with your kit, make a choice of what surface best describes your track and see what oil you need (or go to dtcrc.com or t.tech's web site they have that page on their site, well one of them anyway). hope this helps
