not sure I understand the need for that, unless he is using the brace to ensure the rockers remain in correct alignment.
The area he is bracing is not a common breaking point.

I don't think it's that usefull on astroturf or grass, on very rough and tracksn with high impacts after landing I think it can be usefull.

Suspect it's to stop the rocker pivot damaging the gearbox top threads, or breaking. I have had both problems with my car.
