Gearing - 12, 17 & 19 turn?

:)I tried searching for this info but no joy so I apologise if I should have found it and didn't.
Very 1st buggy meeting this weekend (although not new to rc) and we have Peak V2 12X1 motors fitted. Track is a twisty outdoor grass track, no real straights to speak of. We were going to start with 20 or 21 tooth pinion on these motors but the fall backs are Peak 17x2 or Checkpoint 19 turn. Does anyone have a starting point for gearing on these motor winds or a better recommendation for the 12t motors?

Hi Graeme - the checkpoint should be geared at 15/16, your 12 should be fine at 20/21 or possibly 22 and for your 17, I would probably start off at 23/24, but never having run one, I can't be certain.
