I have been thinking about this for some time, and indeed I have started to create a phpbb forum.
problems are:-
none of this forum will change over without being copied and pasted
everybody will have to rejoin....
do you think I need to do a new forum, or should we stick with this one?
Personally, I think I will stick with this......

Chris ... phpbb is a bit problematic security wise. If you want to move to your own forum I'd go to "Invision power board". It's more secure. Bare in mind that you can't migrate to any forum from this one.

Graham - the benefits would be that I could make a portal style front page, and create decent galleries etc., but thats about all.
And Itsik - that's why I am (now) reluctant to change!

Stay with this one. It works well enough.
If, however, you did want to migrate to something else; is there no way to get the 'data' from this forum board? Can you pay proboards.com for the info?
'nuff said, MX4

Chris am I correct assuming you want to make a portal to make the maintainance of the other parts of the site easier? If so, let me know as I might be able to help you with that.

Itsik - you are correct.
I want to make the forum interact more with the frontpage of the website too, and the whole idea of moving to phpbb would also enable the use of galleries too.
But, i have decided to stick with this forum, so any help you can offer would be fantastic.
