helluuuw, another idea from me at school I had to do some research about bevel gears, well done this and I learned that bevel gears with spiral gears are much better for applications like the pred! anyone with technical knowledge about this who could help discuss this? www.qtcgears.com/Q410/Q410Download.asp?Page=BevelGearsread here about bevel gears!

From what I have read about spiral cut gears is that they can handle higher torque applications but they are not as efficient as normal straight cut bevel gears. I doubt they would be a noticeable amount of efficiency difference but who knows. Don' t most if not all 1/8 scale gas cars use spiral cut gears on their pinions and diffs? I don't know how much of an advantage this would be on the new X10 though, I haven't heard of anyone stripping the new gears yet, the crown gear that is, if someone out there manages to rip the teeth off the steel pinion they would have accomplished quite a feat in doing so! I could see spiral cut gears being an advantage in strength for finer pitch teeth though.

I was just thinking about a higher efficiency, smoother gears...
