Hi all, im in the process of stripping down my international chassis and need a bit of help with gears. Ive come accross 2 different types of pinion and crown gears, the first set are plastic (or composite) and have 13 teeth and 39 teeth respectively and the second set are metal and have 18 and 54 teeth respectively. So they both have a ratio of 1:3 but can anyone explain when these sets were introduced and why they are different? I have an odd set of spares!!! obviousley I cant mix and match so if anybody has any spare they would be willing to trade or sell please let me know! Thanks!

the ones with the metal pinion are from the XT and 95pro version and ...just suck actually, not for an International that one used the plastics (black plastic) later they introduced white gears wich were a bit more durable.

Thank again for explaining that to me! Was there only ever one set of gears for the pred at any one time ie...a pinion gear and crown gear with the number of teeth above or could you get different gears to change the ratio?? similarly for the spur wheel...is there only one gear available? Also, what is the best size motor pinion wheel to use? The reason I ask is that when i was younger and used to race it I used to suffer from very short battery life sometimes, Im just trying to work out if I might have fitted the wromg gears anywhere on the car. Thanks

that was always the same. Only change ratio with the pinion. Check the manuals on the main page for pinion sizes. 3types of gears
1: those very very old ones 2: from the International 'till the P8 (some other plastic was used in some versions) 3: the X10/XRS gears
