Hello Everyone,
I am hopefully going to receive my Pred Kit tomorrow. Is there anything special I might need in order to finish this kit? I am going to get some 5 min. epoxy for the drive shaft build and some new pinions. 48 pitch, 17t through 20t sound about right? also, I have only owned Associated products until now, are the hex drivers needed metric size? I assume so. Will Associated Black Grease be sufficient for the diff build?
Thanks in advance!

welcome aboard first off - good luck.secondly take your time building this kit, it is like no other. pinions- well, it depends on what motor & track you run on. drivers you might get away with using the ones you have, most screws are 2mm(+-5/64). grease - same as associated really clear for the diffs & black for the thrusts. the diffs should be set on the "not as tight as associated" side of tight. sharp learning curve this one. last thing is read the instructions once before starting the build, sort of a dry run to get you in the mood thing. where are you located papawheelie?

Thanks Bigboss,
For the two gearboxes, would I also use the Associated clear grease? Do you know if I can use the Red Associated Shock O-Rings as replacements for worn or damaged rings?
I am located in Arizona, USA. We have a three good electric tracks. One clay, another a hard pack- bluegroove, and a new wet-loamy track. Good size jumps and decent to insane traction. I am hoping the X10 will give all the newly-aquired BJ4s a run for their money.
Thanks again.

Yes clear for the diffs. no to red o-rings. if your kit comes with black o-rings than get some HPI silicone ones(#6820) 8 pcs in one bag so you have twice as many as you need & they are very cheap.I use them, they work well. If, however, you get anything but black o-rings in your kit than you needn't change them. Oh I don't think you should worry about the bj's, you'll see what I mean when you get the setup right (and of course the driving has to be there as well, not saying you can't, I'm just saying you still have to drive the car, that's all).Hope this helps. cliff

Thanks again. You can't use associated O rings, as they are marginally too big. I am using Schumacher ones in mine, and they seem to be OK so far. As for the beating of BJ4's etc., the Pred, when it is setup correctly is very good indeed, and, as bigboss said, your driving needs to be upto the job too. The X10 really cannot be bettered for traction out of the corners by any 4wd buggy on the market that I know of. The difference in acceleration between the preds and other cars, is amazing, and can be a problem when you are starting your final in the middle order!

er, what about the new X10 ones!? I have the new ones fitted and they are completely leak free and seem to work to very good effect!!!! The new ones are good, yes, and they are included in all of the new kits. BUT the kits that were first sent out, and I think yours was one of them Tim, did have the special edition leaky oil seals in them. Hence all the banter about which ones peole have found to replace the original ones with. I am sure it has been mentioned in a previous post in this thread that there is no need to use alternative o rings, but any advice on which ones work better than the originals can only be good!

Alright! Just recieved my Kit in the Mail. I noticed there was a bearing in a baggie all by itself outside of the parts bag. What is this bearing for? I will search this forum to see if it a new part. Actually, could this be for the rear pinion gear? If so, does it state in the manual where it goes or what it replaces?
Sorry for all the questions, just really anxious about this build.

Where did you get the kit from?
Sounds like it could be for the rear pinion. What size is it? It wasn't in the manual, but they might have changed it. Let me know if you need help fitting it.

You will not regret buying the X10. I ran mine for the first time last sunday at a regional meeting, I only used a 19t motor but the car was still mental fast, Also in my 4 years of racing with previous cars (CAT 4K, XXX-4, B4 etc) I had never won an A Final. Well Guess what, first time out with the X10, took my first A final win. There wasnt very many of us to be honest, but i was faster on the first time out with the X10, than i would of been with any other of my 4WD's. The car is simply awesome. Another plus point was i did'nt break a thing ;D
Good Luck

If the bearing is 6x12x3 nonflanged then it's for the rear pinion gear like Northy said, It will replace the alloy sleeve of which you should have two.It will go on without removing the skiny o-ring. A good digital caliper is a good tool to have in this hobby. Just take your time building it and you'll be fine.

Well I have read the manual twice now and stared at the parts bags for about wenty minutes. Finally decided to cut out and mask the body and wings. I think I will need a few beers for this build. Its funny, I have built probably ten RC kits and none have made me hesitate as much as this one. Must be the awe factor or something. The extra bearing is indeed 6x12x3. Thanks bigboss, I was at a lost. Well, it is now almost 5:00 pm here. Not sure what time it is where you guys are. I will let everyone know how I progress. By the looks of the parts, this is going to be one bad machine.
Thanks guys.
