Hey I just got my new X10 Predator, woohoo!! So far very happy with the contents of the kit, even happier that we have a dealer here in Toronto, Canada! I just wanted to confirm that the Predator uses standard pinion gears, NOT Metric? Confused since the whole care is metric but it seems to be that the gears are Imperial. Can I get a confirmation, thanks!

yep, the x10 uses the standard 48dp pinions....dont forget the UK is still stuck between imperial and metric systems!
It can take us a long time to catch on to new fangled ideas!

Thanks for the fast reply.
Metric gears would be for example on a Tamiya, try matching up a tamiya pinion with the Predator or Associated and you'll see what I mean.
64 pitch are used for touring cars just a bit smaller teeth.

I'm asking 'cause I was eating a 81t spur on my B4 with a 18t pinion and it went ok with the 19T pinion and a 89t spur. The 19T pinion felt a bit smoother when I rolled it over the spur. The 18T was smooth also but not as smooth. I also noticed that the gear mesh was ok at some points and to tight at other points, like the spur was a bit oval. I never had the problem with my 20 and 22 pinions (I used them before I went to BL) on that 'oval?' spur

Most pinions on the market are imperial(32pitch,48p,64p). Tamiya as an example uses metric (04 module,05 mod,06 mod).
