Hi,
I have just bought a new X10 & am waiting for it to arrive from the UK.
My question is about the battery location.
I noticed when researching the history of the Predator cars that an older version used to run stick packs down the right hand side if the car and the steering servo was on the LHS infront of the motor.
Question is...
Is there anything stopping me running stick pack's down the RHS of my X10 and mounting the servo back on the LHS ?
I assume weight distribution would not be effected as this is quite a common layout on other cars such as the ZX-5 which i also own.
I'm trying to stay away from changing all my stick packs to saddle packs as I have many other cars which use sticks.
Any thoughts?
Thanks

Thanks Methinks it would be nearly impossible to run a 'stick pack' or 6 cell 'side by side' in the X10. There are 'slots' molded into the chassis to cradle the cells in a 3x3 config. Even the cell soldering order (where pos and neg are) is fairly inflexible. Trust me though, this is all for the better. With the X10/XRS You will have securely mounted cells and the worlds shortest ESC-to-Motor-to-Battery wiring. 'nuff said, MX4

I was going to start by saying : "assumption is the mother of all f#%$&k ups", but that would be just mean. so instead I'll start by saying that yokomo-mx4 is right, I don't think it will be possible to use a stick pack as the cells will out of their slots(you'll see what we mean when you get the kit). on to the assumption bit...("I assume weight distribution would not be effected") if the cells were on one side it would unbalance the car(weight distribution) to that side(what I'm saying is that weights would have to be put on the opposite side of the cells to even out the side to side balance). I know most modern touring cars & some 4x4 off road cars have had the cells on one side (all the off roaders have reverted back to a 3+3 layout except the zx5) but you need to put weights in them to even it out or else the car will pull to one side while going in a straight line, hell I have 2 x-ray tourers & I have to use 50 grams of lead weights to get it balanced, just to get my point across the older T1 x-ray had a saddle pack layout (3+3) & didn't need to be balanced with weights at all. So to sum up, it would be worth your while to convert a few pack to the right (3+3) configuration for this car, by t5he way, it is possible to use these packs as a side by side stick pack in all of your other cars (if they take the side by side configuration), the only thing is the jumper wire between the cells that can be laid flat on top of the cells. hope you see the light, so to speak.

the easiest thing to do is to convert your stick packs to saddle packs....i run my saddle packs in my x10 and my b4 without problem.
The original preds that ran their cells down one side curiously didn't jump all that well, they often landed on one side....I think the cars that run cells down one side and motor/cells/electrics down the other are something of a compromise...

Kind of off subject, but has anyone used a LiPo battery in their X10 yet? I noticed a company here in the states that are selling saddle LiPo packs by the name of MaxAmps at www.maxamps.com . I am wondering if anyone on here has tried them or have seen saddle LiPo packs from any other company. I am really tempted at purchasing one of these in the very near future.

Thanks for the reply.
I'll split some packs up and see how it goes.
Cheers

Yeah, I'm keen to try those Lipo's too Wailinonya. Lack of funds and a feeling that there will be more options to follow soon have stopped me though. If you do try them, let us know how you got on? Happy New Year everyone
