Forward, brake, reverse?

Well allas my pld esc as finally died after many tempory repairs to keep it going, but it was a bit long in the tooth anyway. Anyway the thing being I've always run forward brake and reverse but am considering going to just a forward brake model. Is there any advantages to running just forward brake other than cost?.

Well, usually the forward only controllers have a lower "on" resistance (I.E. more efficient,less heat).
generally they are smaller too.
