Who's using V2 motors (Orion, Peak or Fantom)? Do you think they're better than the "normal" type of brushed motors?
I've just started using them and I must say I'm well impressed! ;D

been running them since they were made available, kicks the backside of brushless and don't need skimming after every round.

I have heard how good the V2's are on the comm and how less maintanance they need, what id like to know is how good is the performance wise? in the torque and powerband department, ie same or better than the other current motors. This is probably the next investment ill make if and when i get the time for racing. On the Brushless side, im very attracted on the offerings it has for zer0 maintanance, just the sheer thought of slamming in cells after cells without fiddling with the motor (ever) is a very attractive proposal, im not sure whether to go for the LRP or the Novak (mod version). Its just more convenient to go out testing and honing on ones driving skill without the pollava that goes with brushed motors. However, after gathering more info throughout the forums and from what people have been saying about the system, that is all what ill be using it for and not for competition races. I also dont like the thought of slamming these in on a 2wd, as they are just too powerful and are vulnerable with those wires stuck on to them, more so with the sensored BL's. I will just use them on the 4wd for testing setup and general practice. I dont think the battle for supperiority is over, on the contrary its only begining and things are just about to heat up. But as it stands it does seem that Brushed motors is still in the Lead, im humble enough to admit ;D .

I had a dynasty 19 double spec motor, and I didn't like it. It was certainly quick enough at the top end, but it just felt lifeless. I like a motor that has a bit of "punch" with it, and the dynasty just didn't have it. But, the lower maintenance was good.
there are a few people at our club with brushless motors, and they alldo OK with them, but some complain of "cogging" especially on the m-troniks one. I have one on my eldest son's T4 (a novak modified one) and it's great for the truck. Plenty fast enough and no maintenance.

The reason why some BL's cogg is because their running the Sensorless version. The controller takes time to accurately pinpoint what position the rotor is at hence the cogging effect. Whereas the sensored version they have additional little wires from the controller to the motor that does the pinpointing and makes it more reliable is why on the Novaks you hardly get any cogging.

I have two dynasty motors and a couple of mods, the trick with these motors is to gear them to take advantage of the higher torque these motors have. But the not having to skim a motor at a regional is great, not having done it yet (3 race meetings) and having gone quicker today at the same track, is why i would recommend, as far as punch is concerned using an orion advantage charger and quite an agressive step profile gets around this.
