Whats this talk about shimming anyway, what is re-shimming a motor, sorry for all the question's just never been racing or anything before although all this talk is starting to make me itch and i'm feelin a bit of racing fever coming on lol. Only ever dealt with tamiya's before and then only been backyard bashing rather than racing so a lot of the race talk is a bit foriegn to me. I do thankfully inderstand toe in, toe out camber, rebound ride hieght settings thankgod, lol.

shimming is necesary to put the armature nnice in the magnetic field.
how to:
remove all shims put the armature in the motor close it (don't need to screw it)
the armature will place itself in the most comfortable position (magnetic field puts it there) now move it left and right and look how many play there is, put washers on the shaft to remove the play and to ensure that the amrature stays in that magnetic field. always keep a very small amount of play.

My head hurts I've never even taken my motor apart lol. Maybe I should, then again maybe I shouldn't lol. So whats the difference between motor pinions small mean faster top end or doe big mean faster top end speed?, my thoughts are big but I could quite possibly be wrong.

Smaller Pinion = More Punch(Acceleration) and less top-speed
Bigger Pinion = More Top-Speed and less acceleration.
Simple as that!
For the Spur Gear(The big one in the car lol) its the opposite!!
Hope this helps!
