Just read this: news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/motorsport/formula_one/4831706.stmCan't believe they'd consider an engine development freeze?! How beyond lunatic is that? F1 is called F1 for a reason ... because it is the ULTIMATE form of racing . Well, at least until we get anti-gravity racing in the F-Zero league ;D. Post your thoughts... 'nuff said, MX4

It's a tough one really because the new regulations do seem to have improved f1 this season from a viewing point. But on the other hand these teams want to spend millions of pounds a year to have the best car/team on the grid so you can understand where they are comming from. I think the car manufactures like toyota, honda, bmw, ferrari, will set up there own f1 where there will be no limits on technology. The only trouble is will you get the close and exciting racing that people want to see??

the more money you have the better your car/drivers will be Thats not entirely true. That would only benefit teams like ferrari, Mcclaren, williams while the rest of the field suffer just like in the 90's. I dont think it will happen again where F1 teams can do whatever they like to further enhance their cars like what williams used to have for mansell and patrese cars where sensors on their cars can autumatically stiffen up suspensions (forgotten name of system) so they can steer the car more aggresive in and out of corners the other one is called torque control. The FIA modified the rules for a reason and that was to make racing closer and enjoyable to watch which is what racing is supposed to be about. The changes were made by the general feeling that F1 was getting borring where you can almost certainly bet your bottom dollar on a man/team to win and so thats how the changes were made. A good one if you ask me .

Active suspension, and many teams ended up wiyh it in the end. Williams were also developing a constantly variable ratio gearbox, that sounded wierd, the car accelerated but the engine note stayed the same!

I dont think anyone in F1 including FIA and joe public is against development and enhancements making cars more reliable and more efficient with the given restrictions and standards that everyone must adhere to but making devices that take out the driving skill off the driver outright is wrong!! one could argue its a form of cheating, no half decent person wants that.
