Whilst building an X10 last night, I got to thinking, as you do, about strength and reliability issues with the car. I know it's strong ( i have tested it enough ;D ), but it still breaks, and I seem to go through my fair share of front gearbox tops (I often wonder if this area of the car could be made into a two peice design...) and front lower wishbones. I know all cars break, (especially Yokes & Losi's ;D) and in a crash, something has to give, but as I am a curious sole, what areas of the X10/XRS would you like to see "beefed" up a little? I'll start with the Front Gearbox Top, where the crash pins go.

Ooooohhhh, good post!
I have not broken a single X10 gearbox top or wishbone on my car, I'm well impressed.
The two weakest areas for me are wingmounts (even with braces) and the balljoint on the end of the top rear wishbone. I'd like to see that as a 'bullet' joint.
Turnbuckles to adjust camber would be nice too.

OK I'll play along as well. Besides the stuff written above, I'd like to see the out drives/diff halves made in such a way that they would support the diff washer/drive rings better, that is to say more than the millimeter they do now(to anyone who does not understand, take a look at how the drive ring sits on the out drive of a Losi or an Associated....lots of support there). This next rant is a general rant not specific one directed at all TTech cars-why didn't they make a proper corner (90 deg) at the rear of the chassis on the servo side, that, in my opinion would make it easier to mount the electronics that are larger than the very smallest on the market onto the deck of the chassis rather than double decking it over the carbon shaft (GTB). Third (and last, I promise) those wheels/rims that chip along the outer circumference and stay glued to the tire, hideous to look at, perhaps a less brittle material...... who knows.

Northy re adjustable camber i know when i was looking at Yardy's car at the weekend at kiddy that it has adjustable camber on so it is possible, but i was told that it hadn't been proven yet

:(Wheels, definetely WHEELS, they seem to break at an alarming rate, as suggested a little more flexible material. I don't know the exact composition of the Speedmind wheels we buy for our touring cars but they have managed to get it just right, they have very little flex but are virtually indestructible. Trust me, when we first started we tried hard enough! As previously stated turnbuckles to adjust the camber both front and rear would be very welcome as well. Lastly some nice alloy front & rear uprights would be brilliant.

Hmmm... Okay - The new wheels (ARCTIC WHITE) are so much better, and still resiliant, so I have no beef there. The Spur Gears are fixed, so no beef there, no beef with the stock uprights - no beef there, haven't had issues with ball joints (other than wear and tear - a bit faster than AE I think) but no beef there. I have already solved the front turnbuckle issue (using old 4mm RC12i Turnbuckles - hard to find, but they work well). My issues are specifically with short diff halves and G/B tops. I think that a 2 pc design would be brilliant, Roen(aka Cooper) had one I think and as well the diff halves as Big Boss mentioned. But my issue isn't the support, it is more the fact that a small recess enough to hold a nyloc nut would be so much more welcome than a drop of CA! No other compaints about the car though!

I'm with Darren on the small nylock nut in the Diff idea. Gramey - I'm amazed you've had so much trouble with the wheels, I'm wondering whether you're on the old stlye ones? Basically I think the car's very strong, and certainly no worse than the competition. What's important with the Pred is to keep an eye on all the screws, bolts etc from time to time and ensure the threadlock is doing its job. If anyone comes up with a design for improved components I have workshop facilities so might be able to help.. Al

When I'm finished with my midmotor B4stuff I'll start drawing the 2piece GB top again and finish it this time... ( ;D why am I willing to do this lol, anyone wants to pay my hours of work I put in it? hihi )
But it would be so much easyer if TTech would just mill out the mold just a bit more.... or improve the crash pins. (maybe a better looking way than my -antennatube+paperclip method- atleast my method prevents them from breaking....)

:)Alfonzo, I agree with you on the robustness of the Pred, it's faired a lot better than the Losi's & some of the others I've seen. It's just annoying when so far apart from one loose screw the DNF's I've had have all been due to wheels failing! I know I'm never going to be up there with the quick guys I just want to enjoy myself and I usually enjoy myself more if I at least finish the race... As for the suggestion about alloy uprights it wasn't because I've had any fail yet I just prefer the look & strength of them.
