Pete,
Just to comment on your concern over the springs. Richard at TTech is already onto this, there are new springs becoming available in January that are a stiffer rate than the kit ones. The rear springs will be silver in colour and are 2lb per inch stiffer than the current blacks that come with the kit, Part number: S136, Silver 1.40mm dia wire, 6.5 Turns.
As well as this there are new longer front springs, half a turn longer than the current, these are: S119, Black 1.30mm dia wire, 6.0Turns.
I was sent some pre production versions of these and tested them last weekend. The track was multi-surface. (We were loaned the Kidderminster track for the morning) the new longer front springs are very good, although when we tested them the track was bone dry, very grippy even with worn tyres, they made the front end very precise, i was able to really attack the apex's with them fitted. As i say though, the track was very grippy and this spring was designed for high grip surfaces- blue groove clay would be suitable i think pete! Maybe not so great for us Brits racing on worn grass/moisture.
The rear springs were fantastic in the corners however, for the choppy bumps of the kidderminster circuit they were slightly too stiff, believe me the car still flew round, but I just felt safer with the standard blacks- maybe we just didn't find the sweet spot with the damping to suit the silver. Myself and Richard do think though that the silver spring will perhaps be a better "universal" spring for grass and less choppy tracks. (the silver springs are the equivalent of the old ttech purple springs on the p8 by the way)
The car jumped well with the newer springs on, the chances of bottoming out were reduced.
I know this is late for your article Pete but I just thought you'd like the info along with the other users of this site.
