Has anyone had any success fitting a brushless setup into a Pred? I'm interested in using one if I can get it to fit.
Pictures welcome! ;D

The Novak setup won't fit in - I tried very hard to get mine in there.
I think you will get a sensorless jobbie in there, such as the LRP or the M-Troniks. The M-troniks (i think) uses a 380 size motor and a relatively small ESC. The LRP is quite small too, but costs the same as an X10!
An LRP + X10 + the very best cells/servo/receiver = approx £1000 of kit on the start line, ready to be trashed by every back marker you attempt to pass safely.....or is that just at my club?

The LRP Sphere is Sensored Chris. I already have £k's tied up in the kit I carry around, s doesn't bother me. They can be bought cheaper from the states though

I was under the impression, after speaking to Richard Taylor at Southport that the LRP was not sensored. He was complaining of cogging and/or delayed reaction to his input. still it didn't stop him lapping consistently in the 28.20-28.35 second margin over about 19 laps!
Actually, looking back he said something like "sensored or sensorless? what the fucks that all about?"
His car typically was ballistically quick.

I think I might wait then. There's supposed to be a new LRP version (and therefore Nosram also) I believe.

I think I might wait then. There's supposed to be a new LRP version (and therefore Nosram also) I believe. That's probably the best option, in my opinion. although brushless technology is by no means new, the application of it in model cars, off road in particular, seems to be a little hit and miss. A couple of brushless systems are in use at Southport, but these are the M-Troniks variety, and they are always quick enough, but they don't always set off when the throttle is applied! A Novak Brushless was destroyed when it was hit by another car - the bodyshell of the B4 it was in had to be cut to allow the heatsink to protrude....

My mates just bought a Novak system. He's currently got it in his Losi but he's going to try and fit it in his X10!

I'll try it in a few days time just as soon as I get my replacement rear diff pinion gear(that split open at the ears)& some other stuff from T.Tech. I have a novak velocity 6.5 that was on my B.J.4 at one time and then on my MF2 a week ago (not too nice on the truck I must say). I'll try to get it all in that small space but from what I've seen, It ain't gonna be pretty.the fan has no room so that must come off, or at least mounted on the side of the controller, we'll see. Later.

Pictures welcome! ;D I have been looking at the packaging of some of the brushless systems and they all look huge.. There is possibly one solution and that is to go for the stumpy futaba servo with rx mounted on the bottom of it. yo may free up room that way.

Mr Bibble (Jim) has not only got the Novak system to fit, but he's been having a lot of success with it! He comes back from marshalling, takes the cells out of his car and then waits till the next race!! ;D Sod garlic bread, this is the future!

It's mounted on the servo sticking over the prop. I'll try and get a picture.

just an update: I ordered a new servo for the X10, when it arrives I can fit the brushless system to the car. I have managed to fit a small servo(sanwa 94145) and the novak GTB onto the chassis however the receiver had to be mounted on the servo, It's not ideal, but at least that way I can keep the CG lower than if I put the ESC on top of the normal size servo (ESC weighs+-40gr). I'll keep you informed. later
